“Cultivating Relationship: a Skill-Up!”
In social justice circles, relationship building is vital. But when was the last time you really tried to list the skills needed to create healthy, strong relationships? This month, the elementary level curriculum for Soul Matters religious education leads our young people through the skills needed to be in a relationship with themselves and with others. We’ll explore (and practice!) these skills and why they are so important for our Unitarian Universalist goal to “love the hell out of the world.”
Lora Powell-Haney served for nine years as Director of Religious Education (DRE) at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Frederick (UUCF). She graduated from Meadville Lombard Theological School in May 2020 with a Master of Divinity; her study included a ministerial internship at Towson Unitarian Universalist Church in Lutherville, Maryland, and a chaplain residency in Hagerstown, Maryland. She currently serves as part-time interim religious education coordinator for the UU Congregation of Wyoming Valley, Pennsylvania, and as an itinerant preacher. Lora loves reading, drinking tea, telling stories, building Beloved Community, communing with her cat, and standing barefoot on the earth.
