Join us SUNDAYS at 10:30am Eastern in-person and on ZOOM

We gather on Sunday mornings to experience, explore, and engage our hearts, minds, and spirits in loving and joyful community, grounded in our Unitarian Universalist Shared Values and centered in Love.

Our services feature music, poetry, wisdom stories, inspiring sermons, and rituals of connection and care. They are led by our minister as well as speakers from Unitarian Universalism and the local community. Our topics are wide and varied, addressing matters of the heart, faith, justice, how we meet the moment, and how we navigate the tumultuous world we live in.

Whoever you are, wherever you come from, whomever you love – you are welcome.

My Face in the Mob
Chaplain Mike Franch

Chaplain Franch was very moved by a recent obituary for Jo Ann Allen Boyce, who as a 14-year old was one of twelve African American students to integrate the high school in her small East Tennessee town. She was met by angry mobs and antagonistic fellow students. He thought of himself at 14 years old and couldn’t imagine going through what they went through. But then he had another thought. Had circumstances in his life been different—had he been raised in the South instead of Northern Illinois, had he had racist parents instead of parents who taught him to respect everyone—could he have been one of those angry faces in the mob. Could he have harassed his Black fellow students? Have there been times when he couldn’t see the other humanity of the other? And the answer was, yes. Sometimes we are good people almost by the accident of where we lived, of our parents’ views, of various situations that molded us without our even thinking about it. Chaplain Franch will reflect on this and eagerly await hearing your reflections.
