We are a Spiritual Community Centered in Love. We are a progressive spiritual community in Finksburg, Maryland, living by values, not creeds. We seek truth and meaning in life. We affirm and promote the worth and dignity of every person, extending love, inclusivity and acceptance to all.

CUU is a progressive, inclusive Unitarian Universalist congregation committed to spiritual growth, ethical living, and compassionate action. We honor many sources of wisdom, celebrate diversity, and affirm the worth and dignity of every person. Our community gathers to reflect, learn, serve, and support one another as we work toward a more just and loving world. Visitors of all backgrounds and beliefs are warmly welcomed.

Rev. Kimberley Debus serves CUU as our contract minister, inspiring an artful and art-filled faith that puts love at the center. She also consults with congregations and religious professionals throughout Unitarian Universalism.

What do Unitarian Universalists believe? We are welcoming congregation grounded in Unitarian Universalist values of equity, interdependence, justice, generosity transformation, pluralism, and love. We are a caring community where people can explore life’s big questions without dogma, nurture their spirits, and join with others to make a positive difference. Whether you’re new to UUism or simply seeking a thoughtful, open-minded spiritual home, we’re glad you found us.

Do I have to belong to a certain religion to attend? We welcome people who come from many religious backgrounds; here you will find a community that encourages spiritual growth and a free and responsible search for truth and meaning. Our members include lifelong Unitarian Universalists and those coming from other traditions.

Is CUU LGBTQ+ affirming? We are! We have several members in the LGBTQ+ community who found us as a safe and affirming refuge.

First Time Visitors

We are an inclusive church and do not recite a doctrine; we choose to respect each person’s spiritual journey as unique and valid. We encourage you to dress comfortably – casual wear is welcome. CUU has a large parking lot close to the church with handicap accessible parking in the first row. Please see our Visitor’s Page link below to answer more of your questions. All are welcome!
