April 7th at 10:30 am

Topic: We Are Each Other

Speaker: Dr. Erin Watley

You’re invited into a brief exploration of ways to deepen how we practice community. What do we neglect? Why is it so important to remember? Where to improve? Dr. Erin Watley will share some of the things she’s been learning about community from Black American culture.

Topic: Almost All Musical Service

Speaker: Gerry Galuardi

Come ready to sing, or at least tap your feet. Gerry will be leading us in songs many of us know, especially if you have attended past summer services. If you don’t know them they are easy to learn. They will be fun, spiritual and hopefully loud. We will have some songs from the hymnal and some from his library. The service will be modified to allow for maximum music participation. The readings and sermon will be replaced by singing led by Gerry. We will have the candles and joys and concerns but no announcements from the floor—if you have one, leave it at the welcome table – well if the building is on fire, you can announce that.

Topic: Voices of Love

Speaker: Rev. Christin Green

Rev. Christin Green takes an expanded look at the commonly known five love languages (words of affirmation, physical touch, acts of service, gifts, quality time) and suggests that we can learn from our BIPOC siblings about more. Join her on this journey of revolutionary love.

Topic: Whose are We?

Speaker: Rev. Lora Powell-Haney

Let’s change up the old question, “Who am I?” to a question that could strengthen, rally, connect, save us: Whose am I? and then widen the circle from individual to community: Whose are we? In honor of National Poetry Month, you’ll have an opportunity to create a statement/poem of belonging for yourself and for your faith community. Knowing where we came from can guide us on the way to who–and whose– we could be. We don’t have to figure it out alone as we embrace our Unitarian Universalist value of interdependence.
